Report Layout & Navigation
Create intuitive multi-page reports with navigation
What You'll Learn
- How to structure multi-page reports
- Add navigation buttons
- Create drill-through pages
Why Multiple Pages?
Don't cram everything on one page! Split by topic.

| Page | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Overview | KPIs + navigation buttons |
| Sales | Sales charts & trends |
| Customers | Customer analysis |
| Products | Product performance |
Adding Navigation Buttons

Steps:
- Insert → Buttons → Blank
- Format → Action → On
- Type: Page navigation
- Destination: Select target page
- Add text/icon to button
Now users click button → go to that page!
Drill-Through Pages
Right-click any data point → jump to detail page!

Setup:
- Create a new "Detail" page
- Add detailed visuals
- Drag a field to Drill-through well
- Back button appears automatically!
Example: Click product in summary → see full product details
Navigation Patterns
| Pattern | Description |
|---|---|
| Hub & Spoke | Home page with buttons to all pages |
| Linear | Page 1 → Page 2 → Page 3 (wizard style) |
| Hierarchical | Overview → Category → Detail |
Best: Hub & Spoke with Home button on every page
Mobile Layout
Don't forget mobile users!
View → Mobile Layout
| Desktop | Mobile |
|---|---|
| Side-by-side visuals | Stacked vertically |
| Small text OK | Larger touch targets |
| Hover tooltips | Tap to see details |
Quick Tips
| Do ✓ | Don't ✗ |
|---|---|
| 5-7 pages max | 20 pages (users get lost) |
| Clear page names | "Page 1", "Page 2" |
| Same nav position | Buttons in random spots |
| Home button everywhere | No way back |
Try This
Create a 3-page report:
- Page 1 - Home: Title + 4 KPI cards + nav buttons
- Page 2 - Sales: Sales charts + Back button
- Page 3 - Region: Map + regional data + Back button
Test the navigation flow!
Tip: Good navigation is invisible. Users find what they need without thinking!
